He graduated from Lipscomb University with degrees in Preaching and Family and Youth Ministry, proving that he felt called to ministry…and also that he was willing to do a lot of homework about it.
David has had the privilege of serving in several churches, from West Nashville all the way to Ohio (yes, he survived the winters), and even directed Youth Encouragement Services at Saint Luke’s. Since 2012, he has been at Western Hills, which he now proudly calls home—and where they’ve graciously kept him around ever since.
David and his wife, Suzie, have been married since 1995, which he will tell you is one of his greatest accomplishments. Together they have three sons—DJ, Jack, and Johnny—who have provided plenty of sermon illustrations over the years, whether they knew it or not.
In his free time, David enjoys refereeing (where people rarely agree with him), playing pickleball (where he thinks he’s better than he is), and confidently claiming victory over his wife in card games (results may vary depending on who you ask).
His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”—a verse that has carried him through life, ministry, and possibly a few close card games.
